, The Judge Advocate General’s Corps has today made public a statement concerning the Danish investigation of the suspected friendly-fire incident in Upper Gereshk Valley on 26 September 2007 which cost the lives of two Danish soldiers and wounded a non-commissioned officer.
It is the opinion of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps that the incident happened as a result of strikes by British soldiers which by a tragic mistake were directed towards the compound where the Danish soldiers were in position.
Any further investigation of the incident is the responsibility of the British authorities. The Judge Advocate General’s Corps has received great assistance from British military authorities and has been promised complete information about the British investigation when finalised.
The Judge Advocate General’s Corps has not found any basis for reproaching any Danish personnel for any actions during the incident.
