ExCel Centre, London: General Dynamics Land Systems is demonstrating its significant Armoured Fighting Vehicle (AFV) capability at DSEI 2015 at the ExCel Centre, London.

With four world-leading platforms on its stand, General Dynamics is showcasing it has the best-in-class and off-the-shelf capability to meet the vehicle requirements of the British Army and Armed Forces around the world.

The four platforms –an AJAX prototype, an Ocelot (‘Foxhound’), an EAGLE and a Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV) Demonstrator –are currently in-service or in the final stages of development before delivery to the customer.

In service, AJAX will offer best-in-class protection and survivability, reliability and mobility and all-weather intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) capabilities. Its 589 platforms, in six variants, will allow the British Army to conduct sustained, expeditionary, full-spectrum and network-enabled operations with a reduced logistics footprint. AJAX can operate in combined-arms and multinational situations across a wide-range of future operating environments. The first AJAX platform will be delivered in 2017.

The Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV) Demonstrator represents best in-class levels of protection with blast-deflecting Double-Vhull technology and energy-absorbing seating for crew and troops. A sixth generation suspension and driveline, and a more powerful engine provide superior mobility and significantly increased payload. The LAV platform is currently in service with seven nations, and over 10,000 LAVs delivered to date. All systems on the LAV Demonstrator are currently in production and available as off-the-shelf technology.

The Ocelot light tactical 4×4 protected vehicle is successfully deployed on operations with the British Army as ‘Foxhound.’ It is a best-in-class mine and blast protected 4×4 vehicle. The design of the Ocelot platform is modular, enabling the British Army to provide role-specific platforms from the common base platform. This ensures logistic, training and support commonality across the variants. Variant modules include Patrol, Special Operations, General Purpose Logistics and Command and Control for Battalion and Company/Sqn HQ elements.

EAGLE is a field-proven vehicle that provides high and secure mobility on- or off-road, which is currently in service with the German, Swiss and Danish Armies. It is available in a range of 4×4 and 6×6 configurations and can fulfill roles such as Armoured Personnel Carrier, Ambulance, Recovery, Command, Reconnaissance, and Logistics .EAGLE provides logistic commonality across its range of variants to offer lower maintenance and lifecycle costs.

Kevin Connell, vice president of General Dynamics Land Systems –UK, said: “General Dynamics has unrivalled experience in the delivery of Armoured Fighting Vehicles, which is showcased here at DSEI. Our range of platforms enables General Dynamics Land Systems to deliver a solution to meet the multitude of different requirements of customers around the world.”

General Dynamics Land Systems has a long pedigree and worldwide experience in delivering tracked and wheeled military vehicles, alongside specialist knowledge in complex, scalable Electronic Architectures. It delivers, amongst others, the Abrams main battle tank, Stryker and the Cougar Mine Resistant Ambush –Protected (MRAP) family of vehicles.
