Royal Air Force, Flight Lieutenant Matt D'Aubyn, the last ever pilot to be trained on the Jaguar in the RAF, graduated from No 41(Fighter) Squadron Jaguar Training Flight at RAF Coltishall on Monday 10 October 2005.

Flight Lieutenant D'Aubyn joined the RAF in October 2001 and following his Initial Officer Training at the RAF College Cranwell, he was posted to No 1 Flying Training School at RAF Linton-on-Ouse in the Vale of York during May 2002 to start his Basic Flying Training on the Tucano T1.

After completing his training on the Tucano, Matt was posted to the NATO Flying Training Programme in Canada for his Advanced Flying Training where he flew the Hawk 115 from both Canadian Forces Base Moose Jaw and Cold Lake. Successfully completing his Advanced Flying Training, Matt was then posted back to the UK and to RAF Coltishall in April 2005 for conversion onto the Jaguar.

After six months with No 41 (F) Squadron Jaguar Training Flight he has successfully completed the course and has since been posted to No 6 Squadron at RAF Coltishall where he will remain on the Jaguar until 2007 when the aircraft will finally be retired from front line service.

Jaguar pilot training started in the RAF in May 1973. At that time, pilots were taught to fly the Jaguar by No 226 Operational Conversion Unit at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland with No 16 (Reserve) Squadron taking over the training role at Lossiemouth in November 1991.

In July 2000, No 16 (R) Squadron re-located to RAF Coltishall where they continued to train Jaguar pilots until March 2005 when the Squadron was disbanded. The training commitment for the Jaguar Force then became the responsibility of No 41 (F) Squadron
