Cubic Corporation, SAN DIEGO, CA: Cubic Defense Applications, a defense subsidiary of Cubic Corporation, has received a potential $9.5 million contract from the 675th/689th Armament Systems Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, to supply Cubic's latest air combat training system to the Polish Air Force. The Poland Autonomous Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (AACMI) program represents Cubic's first Foreign Military Sale (FMS) of the new P5 system, currently operational at 10 U.S. military bases.

Cubic's P5 Combat Training System (P5CTS) will be delivered to Poland's Poznan-Krzesiny and Lask air bases by late 2009. Cubic and its teammate, DRS C3 Systems, Inc., of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, will produce the 16 P5 airborne subsystem pods that will be integrated with new Polish F-16 aircraft. Ground stations will also be delivered and will include Cubic's Individual Combat Aircrew Display System (ICADS), which allows pilots to monitor, control and debrief training missions. At this time, nearly $8.8 million has been obligated with an option for contractor logistics support.

“The P5CTS being developed for Poland will have capabilities similar to the U.S. P5 system. In addition, several new features have been added, some specifically for the European market,” said Don Jacobs, vice president of Development and Integrated Systems for Cubic's Readiness Systems Business Unit.

The capabilities being added for the Polish P5 include:
–An air-to-air data link that operates in the “S” band, the preferred frequency band for European AACMIs.
–Full integration with the Digital Heads-Up Display (HUD) recorder in the aircraft cockpit.

“The Poland FMS contract brings to $200 million the total of P5 orders placed since 2003,” said Philip J. Fisch, senior director of the Readiness Systems Business Unit. “The P5CTS will also be delivered to the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) in 2010. Several other potential FMS sales are in discussions with announcements expected later this year.”

Cubic Defense Applications (CDA), one of Cubic Corporation's major segments, is a world leader in realistic combat training systems, mission support services and defense electronics. The corporation's other major segment, Cubic Transportation Systems, designs and manufactures automatic fare collection systems for public mass transit authorities.
