Evans & Sutherland Computer Corp, SALT LAKE CITY: Evans & Sutherland Computer Corp. today announced that the company has successfully completed the third phase of the upgrade to the United Kingdom Army Aviation Command and Tactics Trainer (ACTT) and has been awarded phase four. The phase four upgrade contract includes a major software upgrade to the existing stations, further enhancing the tactical training capability for all the simulated platforms.

The School of Army Aviation is successfully using the tactics trainer for the Attack Helicopter Mission Commanders course in addition to the Army Pilots Course (APC) — Operational Training Phase (OTP), Aviation Mission Commanders Course, Squadron Commanders Course and the Electronic Warfare Instructors Course.

Lt. Col. Andy Wellesley AAC, the chief ground instructor at Middle Wallop, commented, “The ACTT is an essential enabler to the success of these courses, providing realistic tactical training in an all-arms synthetic environment. The ACTT goes from strength to strength.”

“The continued success of the ACTT program to meet the tactical training needs of Army Aviation in today's dynamic environment is an excellent example of what can be accomplished with close collaboration between the end user (School of Army Aviation), the contracting agency (Defense Procurement Agency) and the contractor (Evans & Sutherland),” said E&S Simulation Systems Vice President David Figgins. “Our continuing execution of our customer's vision for this product ensures that the needs of Army Aviation will be met now and in the future, including the ability to integrate with other United Kingdom networked training initiatives.”

Evans & Sutherland produces professional hardware and software to create highly realistic visual images for simulation, training, engineering and other applications throughout the world. E&S visual systems are used in both military and commercial systems, as well as planetariums and interactive theaters.
