Bruker Daltonik,

Billerica MA: The NBC Detection Business of Bruker Daltonik GmbH (Leipzig, Germany) today announces a contract with Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH (Kiel, Germany) for the supply of nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) detectors for 32 Fox NBC reconnaissance vehicles for the United Arab Emirates.

The range of Bruker Daltonics NBC detectors to be supplied under this contract includes:

– integrated RAID(TM)-S filter monitoring systems and hand-held RAID(TM)-M detectors for chemical warfare agent detection based on ion mobility spectrometry (IMS);

– the SVG2 integrated radiation detection system, as well as hand-held SVG2 detectors;

– 16 Fox vehicles will be equipped with the RAPID(TM) chemical warfare agent stand-off detector based on Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) technology, which has been developed in collaboration with affiliate Bruker Optics Inc.;

– 16 Fox vehicles will be equipped with the Mobile Mass Spectrometer MM2(TM); the MM2 is the successor to the well established MM1 which has been the standard in mobile chemical reconnaissance for the last two decades; and

– various detectors for a FOX NBC simulation system, as well as replacement systems and spare parts.

It is anticipated that the bulk of the deliveries under this greater than $14 million contract will occur in the years 2007 and 2008. Under the contract, Bruker Daltonics also has provided options to Rheinmetall for additional biological detection systems, and for NBC detectors for up to an additional 28 Fox vehicles.

Mr. Sebastian Meyer-Plath, Vice President for NBC Detection at Bruker Daltonics, commented: “This sizeable NBC detection systems order is the result of Bruker Daltonics' sterling reputation and expertise in the global CBRN defense and homeland security markets. Our broad technology base and range of NBC detection products, coupled with our 25 years of applications expertise in NBC detection, make Bruker Daltonics one of the premier providers worldwide of complete NBC detection solutions. We are looking forward to continuing our excellent relationship with Rheinmetall, as well as with the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates.”

The FOX NBC Reconnaissance Vehicles with the Bruker Daltonics NBC detection suite will enhance the United Arab Emirates' defensive capabilities and will augment the country's fight against terrorism.
