Saab has been awarded a contract in open competition from the German Federal Office of Defence Technology and Procurement (BWB) for development and serial deliveries of the BT46 simulator for the German AGDUS training concept (a dual-simulator training system).

The simulator vill be used for the Grenade Machine Gun with 40mm ammunition. The total order amounts to 40 MSEK.

“Germany is an important market for Saab. With this order our German customer again shows confidence in our ability to solve challenges in simulation of a complex platform,” says Claes-Peter Cederlöf, Vice President Marketing Training & simulation, Saab.
The project plan is tight, with delivery of two pre-serial systems for tests and qualification in November 2011, and serial deliveries of 82 systems in November 2012.

The BT46 two-way simulator has shown itself as a unique system, that can be adapted to meet a huge variation of needs. A two-way simulator has the ability to simulate the ballistics and time of flight of a projectile in real time, with a high level of precision and simultaneously give immediate and realistic feedback to the gunner and the target.

Saab has supplied BT46 simulators for AGDUS for the vehicles Leopard, Marder, Luchs, Wiesel MK, Wiesel TOW, Fennek and Boxer as well as the helicopter PAH-1 and anti-tank weapons Milan and Panzerfaust 3. The AGDUS GMG simulator is based on the standard Saab BT46 units adapted for both gunnery and Combat Training.

Saab serves the global market with world-leading products, services and solutions ranging from military defence to civil security. Saab has operations and employees on all continents and constantly develops, adopts and improves new technology to meet customers’ changing needs.
