Terman,

Lystrup, Germany:  The U.S. aircraft manufacturer Lockheed Martin has selected Terma for the supply of Conventional Edges for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Horizontal Stabilizer. The selection will lead to a contract under which Terma will produce the high-tech carbon-fibre composite parts.

The project represents a potential turnover value of approximately US$ 50 million. Terma won the selection in international competition on a best value basis.

The Conventional Edges are located on the horizontal tails of all three versions of the F-35 aircraft.

Since 2003 Terma has participated in the Lockheed Martin team designing structural parts. The design is based on the use of advanced composite materials.

Previously Terma/Grenaa has been selected for the design and manufacture of:

– The Gun Pod for two of the three variants of the aircraft
– Weapons Pylons
– Composite panels for the Airframe
– Tests Pods and test equipment

In addition Terma/Lystrup has been selected for the production of radar components.

Denmark is one of eight countries involved in the funding of the development of the F-35, a new generation of supersonic stealth fighters designed to replace F-16s and other fighters worldwide.

The first F-35 rolled out of the Lockheed Martin factory in Fort Worth, Texas, U.S.A. on Feb. 17, 2006 and is undergoing extensive ground testing prior to its first flight this autumn.
