Skykraft will launch a 300kg satellite on SpaceX’s upcoming Transporter-5 mission according to a recently signed launch contract. The 300kg satellite is a carrier for multiple early-phase Skykraft Air Traffic Management satellites that will form a global constellation of 210 satellites.

Skykraft is building a Space-based Air Traffic Management constellation to improve the safety and efficiency of global air travel.

Skykraft is also offering the opportunity for small hosted payloads to ride along on this and following launches to help advance for scientific, technology development and education endeavours.

Executive Chair of Skykraft, AVM (retd) Mark Skidmore said “Skykraft is very pleased to ride with SpaceX, the most reliable and effective launch provider in the world, to deploy our Air Traffic Management constellation. We also congratulate the SpaceX team on their transformative approach to small satellite launch and the rapid cadence of their rideshare opportunities.”

Skykraft is an Australian space services company that specialises in the conceptualisation, design, manufacture and operations of SmallSat constellations for the delivery of global services. Skykraft’s foundation constellation, which grows from this launch, is for space- based Air Traffic Management services with operations commencing in 2023.

Skykraft is the anchor tenant in the innovation precinct of the UNSW Canberra City Campus, a vibrant precinct taking root on the eastern edge of the Canberra CBD, bringing together innovative space, cyber and security companies as a catalyst to contribute to the university town culture and highly educated workforce of Canberra.
