Raytheon Co,

LANGLEY: Raytheon Company has accomplished its first requirement of the Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) contract; to deliver an experimental Distributed Common Ground System (DGS-X) to Langley Air Force Base, Va., where Raytheon and the Air Force will conduct additional testing and accreditation. The company successfully completed the factory acceptance test for the Air Force DCGS Block 10.2 multi- intelligence core earlier this month.

Prior to shipping the system Raytheon conducted a series of in-plant tests with representatives from the Air Force program office and the Defense Contract Management Agency observing and evaluating the results. In the next phase of the delivery activities, Raytheon will complete installation, integration and checkout at DGS-X in preparation for Raytheon site acceptance testing.

In addition, Raytheon has delivered engineering prototypes of the DCGS Integrated Backbone, or DIB, to the Army, Navy and the Marines enabling an architecture through which military intelligence analysts can collaborate globally regardless of their military affiliation. The DIB consists of software, licenses and documentation that the services can operate on and through to expand the intelligence collaboration.

Integration of the first DCGS Block 10.2 system to the Air Force will culminate a 19-month development effort and lead to the fielding of operational systems across the Air Force and Air National Guard units. Raytheon and its teammates BAE SYSTEMS, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, L3 Communications and Goodrich are continuing to support the operational testing and fielding of production systems. The DCGS Block 10.2 open architecture and standards-based system is the foundation and upgrades are planned for semi- annual spirals to support emerging warfighter capability needs.

When fully fielded, DCGS Block 10.2 will be a worldwide distributed, network centric enterprise architecture that enables collaborative intelligence operations and production. Its environment provides for both the physical and electronic distribution of ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) data, processes, and systems. Raytheon's DCGS 10.2 upgrade will be capable of continuous on-demand intelligence brokering that will enable U.S. and coalition forces to get the information they need to take action and influence events in a significantly shorter amount of time. DCGS is a critical part of our nation's security plan, providing our military services with the best-of-breed technologies. The DCGS Block 10.2 system was rated “the Number 1 Network Centric System” by C4ISR Journal.

Raytheon Company, with 2004 sales of $20.2 billion, is an industry leader in defense and government electronics, space, information technology, technical services, and business and special mission aircraft. With headquarters in Waltham, Mass., Raytheon employs 80,000 people worldwide.
