Bulgarian Ministry of Defence, The Council of Ministers endorsed amendments to the Plan for the Build-up and Modernization of Bulgarian Armed Forces up to 2015 at a closed-door session on 1 June 2006. The changes concern the structure of the General Staff of the Bulgarian Armed Forces and the military education system.
The Plan for the Build-up and Modernization of Bulgarian Armed Forces up to 2015 is a major document for establishment and development of military capacities of the Republic of Bulgaria. The Plan is open and subject to changes and improvements depending on developments in the security environment and the transformation processes happening within NATO. Its implementation started in 2005 with transformation processes carried out at a strategic and operational level and a reform in the field of military education.
The amendments endorsed by the Council of Ministers will enable adjustment of the transformation processes to the modern challenges and affective usage of financial resources.
