SELEX Sensors & Airborne Systems, BASILDON, UK: SELEX Sensors and Airborne Systems (SELEX S&AS), a Finmeccanica Company, is delighted to have received an important order from Kelowna Flightcraft of Canada to supply Titan 385ES EO Turrets for onward sale to Kazan Helicopters of Russia. These flexible multi-sensor turrets will be installed on Mi-17-V5 helicopters manufactured in Russia for delivery to the Kazakstan Air Force.

Titan 385ES is the first Western built Electro-Optic (EO) system to be officially certified by Kazan for the Mi-17 class of helicopter. The sale represents SELEX S&AS first major Russian order and builds on work with Kelowna and Kazan in promoting the Mi-17 fitted with an avionics package.

Titan 385ES is the latest Multi-Sensor Turret system designed by SELEX S&AS incorporating high performance infrared staring focal plane array sensors technology. This proven turret system offers high resolution night vision capability in either mid or long range infrared wavebands. Titan 385ES combines high performance sensors to create a single Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) solution which meets today’s operational airborne needs for observation, surveillance and reconnaissance needs.

Jim Field, SELEX S&AS Vice President – Integrated Systems, said: “We are very excited about this order. We have already sold Titan 385ES to many civil and military customers worldwide but this is the first time that one of our products has been certified for use on a Russian platform. The Mi-17-V5 is one of the world’s top helicopters and we are proud that Kazan Helicopters and our partners at Kelowna Flightcraft recognise the proven benefits of our state of the art EO technology.”
