UK Ministry of Defence, Under Secretary of State for Defence Don Touhig has welcomed a new report from the House of Commons Defence Committee supporting the objectives of the UK's military deployments in Afghanistan.
The cross-party committee has concluded that by working with Afghan security institutions, UK forces can deliver real improvements to security for the people of Helmand Province, and help create the conditions for political and economic development.
The report also praises the professionalism of the UK-led NATO Allied Rapid Reaction Corps, expressing confidence that it will be successful when it takes command of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission in Afghanistan next month.
