Introductions

Hey everyone -

My name is Danny and I live in the San Francisco, California area. I am not in the military and do not work for the government but just have a passion for the military and military strategy. Sometime after I graduated from college I became fascinated with the military and came to respect service members from all countries. I monitor military websites daily and keep up with current and possible future threats to the USA.

Hello all,

I currently live in San Diego after obtaining my law degree from washington and lee and undergrad from virginia tech.

I took a two year hiatus after law school, and was finally able to get a job with Sayres working for Lockheed Martin in subcontract management.

I've realized there are allot of perks associated with subcontracts positions for a prime contractor....Not too shabby its kinda like a bonus to make up for the substandard pay.

Anyway its nice to talk to you all.

Justin

Hello all,
My name is Jack and I currently live in Newcastle upon-tyne in England. Although I am not currently serving I am hoping to be accepted in RMAS after I graduate from Durham University, I am currently in talks with the recruiters and am hoping to join the Grenadier Guards as my regiment of choice if I am accepted into RMAS and succeed in the course. Naturally I keep up with current military and defence affairs around the globe as much as I can.

Regards,
Jack

I served in the British army as both a soldier and a commissioned officer. I served in an armoured infantry unit, with whom I have done a tour of Afghanistan. I also worked within trials and development. I had to leave the army after a medical discharge, after which I have done a short stint in Iraq working for a PSC and am currently studying a war and security degree. My specialist areas of interest are strategic concept, application of air and sea power, and of course of course infantry tactics and utilisation

Hi!

I`m 23 and I come from Slovenia. I`m working on a degree in economics at the Ljubljana University of Economics.

My interests include defence related subjects, among other things. I read defence sites on a daily basis and books about defence, in the end hoping to get as much a balanced analysis of a world and/or historical event or armed conflict etc. as possible. I have joined this forum in the hopes of gathering more information, honing my argumentative skills and polishing my english.

Let the posting begin. :)

hello, my username is Shock (i don't make it a habit to post my first name on boards). i currently resided in the Dallas-Ft Worth area and been fanizanted with the military stratagy and it's applications in both on the battlefield and in moderan day life.

i have currently built up my library to incuded the following:

On War-Carl von Clausewitz (the manual for conventual spectrum of military operations

On Guerrilla warfare-Mao Zedong (the manual for unconventual spectrum of military operations)

The Art of War-Sun Tzu (the manual for understanding both warfare in general and the Eastern way of conducting it)

U.S. Counterinsurgency methods and the Global war or Terror-Terry Tucker (a useful military insight of what is needed to fight asymmetrical warfare and a tactical summery of the Middle East in general)

Tactics of the Crescent Moon-H. John Poole. (an insight into the history of Islamic warfare, mindset, and what methods they are currently using).

The Seven Military Classics of Ancient China-Ralph D. Sawyar. (a very useful collection of military documents for anyone who would want to understand the Chinese apporoce to warfare).

The 33 Strategies of War by Robert Greene (this book could be renamed "Warfare for Dummies" and get away with it. it is extermely simplfied while at the same time detailed enough for a common man with no idea of what stratagy is about and give him the basic idea of trying to create one).

i look for more but i come to this board to look for the one thing that books reading lacks, actual opinions from active servicemen (and women) in the armforces.
