Chinese hackers have stolen incredible amounts of data from VW-Group between 2010 and 2015. Most of the data is about the development of gasoline/petrol engines, transmission systems, electrical and hydrogen propulsion systems.

The hackers were very professional, working only during office hours and use programs and tactics often used by the chinese intelligence agencies.

This is certainly the main reason why the chinese car industry can develop so quickly, because the chinese not only spy on VW.

And here another case.
Three German persons who spied for china are arrested in Germany. They not only sent information about the research of propulsion for naval vessels to china, but they also illegally exported a special laser-device to china.

Sadly true about this and a wealth of other IP. Hope the PRC spent lots of effort on the VW diesels which were not up US and EU emission standards albeit the auto diesel market is rapidly declining where these standards matter so export for Chinese diesels is unlikely.

Progress on US African Railway project. Something to counter China drive in Road and Belt in Africa. Global South now demand Investment in Infrastructure rather then talk on diplomatic access and Friendship.

Can US use the window during this past to year and potentially next, when China still slowing down their Road and Belt projects (to recalculate and licking some of their investment misshapes)? For one thing if you want to fight Chinese game in Investment, then give your Investment as counter.

And here another case.
There's another, more important case in Germany actually. Jian Guo, a 43-year-old Chinese-German who worked for a European Parliament representative of rightwing-extremist party AfD. He's been arrested on charges of passing confidential information out of the European Parliament to Chinese intelligence services as well as spying on Chinese dissidents in Germany.

Jian Guo, who has been living in Germany for 22 years and has German citizenship, was possibly originally planned to be installed as a double agent; he "applied" as a source for German foreign intelligence service BND in 2007 who rejected him and referred him to the (counterespionage-tasked) domestic intelligence service of Saxony, where he lived.

I just put these articles together, because they are all about china's interactions with other countries.

Bullying and terrorizing Philippine naval and coast guard vessels is standard procedure for the chinese, but there are not often foreign camera teams on board these vessels.
Sky News on board Philippine vessel attacked with water cannon (youtube.com)
Philippines accuses China Coast Guard of damaging its ship | DW News (youtube.com)

And here is an article about a stategy similar to what china does in the Paracel and Spratly Seas: increasing their presence and building infrastructure in someone's else territory bit by bit. This time in the northern part of Bhutan.
Hoe het kleine Bhutan een hoofdrol speelt in de strijd tussen India en China (nos.nl)

This is just shown how interconnected the global supplychains already is. It is also shown how mature and practically integrated China Industrial Ecosystem already is.

Geopolitics and domestic politics in US can drive more trade war, especially close to elections. However this article pointing out market and businesses will find way out. On record yes Chinese import now being reduce and substitute with imports from Mexico, Vietnam, Bangladesh etc.

However what if those imports use Chinese materials? What if the imports from those nations more represents new finishing lines, but nor changing much on the ecosystems chains. Will then US politics will slap more tariff on that?

Nor as easy as it look. People outside China, especially in West, still talk as if China still just another low costs factories. However this last two three decades, clearly they are achieving more than that. They're achieving efficient industrial ecosystem. Something that make them adjustable on changes in Geopolitics.
