M-346 Spearheads Finmeccanica Presence at FIDAE

Finmeccanica, Finmeccanica views Chile not just as a market but also as a potential partner. The Italian technology group participates in Chile’s FIDAE airshow with a stand shared by several of its companies.

The leading aeronautical product – in fact, the only one present in full-size – is the Alenia Aeronautica M-346 advanced trainer, which is the subject of the Latin America joint marketing agreement signed with INAER at the airshow.

The ATR42 Surveyor, fresh from its sales successes in Libya and Nigeria, was present through a large-size model.

On the first day of the show, the stand was visited by Mrs. Michelle Bachelet, president of Chile, accompanied by Ing. Remo Pertica of Finmeccanica, by Ing. Ferracini of Alenia Aermacchi and by the Italian ambassador and consul. Mrs Bachelet boarded the M-346 mock-up in the outdoor display in order to gain a better understanding of it: a high level visit that lead Aermacchi CEO Ing. Carmelo Cosentino to underline the advantage that the alliance with Chile will confer to the Italian trainer as it takes on the world market.

The range of Alenia Aermacchi trainers – already well rooted in Latin America with the SF.260, MB.326 and MB.339 – was also illustrated in a briefing open to the press and operators.

Other Finmeccanica companies present at Santiago included Agustawestland, which has already supplied helicopters to Chile, Elsag Datamat, Selex Communications, Selex Sistemi Integrati and Telespazio.
