JERUSALEM: Israeli defence contractor Elbit Systems Ltd. said on Thursday its U.S. subsidiary EFW won a $51 million, six-year contract to supply the U.S. Army with helmet display and tracking systems.
Under the deal, EFW will fit out the army's new armed reconnaissance helicopters manufactured by Bell Helicopter with the system.
The tracking system, already in use on many military planes, will use EFW's night vision imaging system and head-up display with a tracking system for pilot targeting, cueing and crew coordination, Elbit said in a statement.
The helmet display and tracking systems allow pilots to view critical flight information during both day and night through their goggles, increasing situational awareness and safety.
Elbit's shares were up 1.3 percent in afternoon trade in Tel Aviv, outpacing gains of 0.5 percent on the broader bourse.
