ISAF Troop Donates Skateboards to Skateistan; then does an "Ollie"
Skateistan was started in 2007 by Oliver Percovich an Australian skater, who is now the executive director of Skateistan. Skateistan officially became an NGO in 2009. It wasn't until then that Skateistan began to get support from major donors, such as the embassies of Norway, Denmark, Germany and Canada. In October 2009, the 1750msq., Skateistan Park officially opened, giving 270 boys and girls (ages 5-17) in Kabul a secure environment to learn in and an indoor skate park to come to every week.
