MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd, RICHMOND, BC: MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd., a provider of essential information solutions, announced today that Collecte Localisation Satellites (CLS) of Toulouse, France has committed to a RADARSAT-2 information solution.
The solution will be used by the French maritime authorities to continue maritime surveillance of areas of the South Indian Ocean around Kerguelen Island, a territory of France. The primary purpose is to detect illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing ships.
CLS has signed a contract with MDA to upgrade the existing RADARSAT receiving and processing infrastructure to RADARSAT-2. MDA and CLS are working on an agreement to extend the CLS license to continue receiving RADARSAT-1 and to receive RADARSAT-2 upon launch.
