Mowag AG, KREUZLINGEN, Switzerland: On Wednesday, September 27, the technology-minded company MOWAG GmbH from Kreuzlingen could hand over the first six out of 90 ordered Eagle IV vehicles to the Danish procurement agency (DAMC).

A delegation of high-ranking representatives of the Danish defense forces and of the Danish industrial partners, led by Major General Henrik Dam, Head of the Danish procurement agency, took possession of the first six new Eagle IV production vehicles within the framework of a solemn ceremony.

Furthermore, MOWAG agreed on a close strategic logistic partnership with the Danish procurement agency. The first six Eagle IV protected patrol vehicles could now be handed over to the Danish procurement agency, only about 9 months after the signing of the contract in December 2005.

Simon T. Honess, the CEO of MOWAG GmbH, was delighted with the production start of the Eagle IV and declared: “The handover of the first Eagle IV to our Danish partner is a milestone in the history of our company. The successful production start of the new Eagle IV is an impressive proof of the efficiency and trustworthiness of our company. Moreover, with the logistic cooperation agreement which was signed today, we can further intensify our close strategic partnership with Denmark.”

All of the 90 Eagle IV will be manufactured in the Kreuzlingen works and delivered in monthly lots of three to six vehicles until December 2007. The Eagle IV, to be equipped with an Overhead Weapon Station, Communication and Battle Management System and various other equipment, will further enhance the military capability of Denmark to participate in international operations.

The threat situation in such missions specifically calls for a high level of protection for the vehicle crews against mines and ballistic weapons. With the Eagle IV, the technology-minded company from Kreuzlingen, Switzerland offers a new product based on the well proven DURO family of vehicles, which fulfils this high-ranking requirement of protection, comfort and mobility.

Background Notes and Information

With the Eagle IV MOWAG has set another standard in the domain of armoured wheeled vehicles in this weight class. The Eagle IV is 5.37 m long, 2.16 m wide and offers seating space for 5 people. On the road, the Eagle IV reaches a speed of 110 km/h; it manages gradients of up to 60% and obstacles with a height of up to 40 cm. The 245 HP Cummins engine, in connection with the Allison 5-speed automatic transmission, the unique De Dion axles with patented Roll Stabilizer, the tire pressure regulation system, and permanent all-wheel drive give the Eagle IV an incomparable mobility both on- and off road.

MOWAG GmbH of Kreuzlingen develops, designs, and manufactures technologically advanced special vehicles for military use.
