Embraer, SÃO JOSÉ DOS CAMPOS, Brasil: Embraer participates in the sixth edition of the Latin America Aero and Defense (LAAD) trade fair, at RioCentro, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from April 17 to 20.

Embraer executives will be available during the event to display and promote commercial, executive and defense aircraft, especially products from the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) line, for which the Brazilian government was the launch customer.

This year, the highlight is the presence, for the first time, of Luiz Carlos Aguiar, Embraer’s Executive Vice-President, Defense and Government Market, who took over this position in January 2006.

“We are proud to be at this significant trade fair, which is the biggest in Latin America,” Aguiar said. “LAAD is a great opportunity to show the aerospace industry our proven projects and new expansion plans.”

Visitors to LAAD 2007 will meet Brazilian and international companies that are involved in supplying and selling services to the armed forces, special forces, security companies, commercial airlines, aerospace organizations, airport authorities, and government agencies.

This edition will also have a new area: Homeland Security.

Embraer’s product line for the Defense and Government market includes three Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems and the military trainer and light attack aircraft, the Super Tucano.

Currently, eight of these ISR aircraft manufactured by Embraer are in operation with the Amazon Surveillance System (SIVAM), with five EMB 145 AEW&C (Airborne Early Warning and Control) and three EMB 145 RS (Remote Sensing) airplanes. Besides Brazil, the Mexican government operates an EMB 145 AEW&C aircraft and two of the EMB 145 MP (Marine Patrol); and Greece, which was the first North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) nation to use the system, has four EMB 145 AEW&C aircraft.

The Super Tucano is being used by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), as well as the Colombian Air Force (FAC), which have ordered 99 and 25 planes, respectively. The A-29, the name given the Super Tucano by the FAB, is an evolution of the original Tucano platform, of which some 650 aircraft are operating with about 17 air forces around the world, including Brazil, Great Britain, France, Egypt and Kuwait.

Embraer (Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica S.A.) is the world’s largest manufacturer of Commercial jets up to 120 seats, and one of Brazil's leading exporters. Embraer's headquarters are located in São José dos Campos, São Paulo, and it has offices, industrial operations and customer service facilities in Brazil, the United States, France, Portugal, China and Singapore. Founded in 1969, the Company designs, develops, manufactures and sells aircraft for the Commercial Aviation, Executive Aviation, and Defense and Government segments. The Company also provides after sales support and services to customers worldwide. On March 31, 2007, Embraer had a workforce of 21,005 employees and a firm order backlog of US$ 15 billion.
