NEW YORK: L-3 Communications announced today that its WESCAM (L-3 WESCAM) subsidiary has been selected by Agusta Westland to provide 56 MX®-15Di turrets as the Electro-Optical Laser Designator system for the United Kingdom's Future Lynx program. System deliveries are slated to begin late in 2009 and will continue through 2014.

The British Army's Battlefield Reconnaissance Helicopters (BRH) and the Royal Navy's Surface Combatant Maritime Rotorcraft (SCMR), Future Lynx's new airframes, will utilize L-3 WESCAM's exceptional long-range electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) technology to support crucial maritime, battlefield reconnaissance and combat missions. In-service dates for Future Lynx are 2013 for the British Army and 2014 for the Royal Navy.

“We are extremely pleased to have been selected by Agusta Westland to participate in this important new platform program,” said John Dehne, President of L-3 WESCAM. “This selection demonstrates the requirement for industry-leading sensor technology and further strengthens L-3 WESCAM's position as a key supplier of dedicated solutions to the defense marketplace.”

The MX-15Di is part of L-3 WESCAM's MX-Family of imaging products. The series is a true family of sensor systems, spanning a broad range of size, weight and performance parameters. The series uses common components and common interior electronics, which simplify interchangeability and create efficiencies in support, technology growth and reduced life cycle cost. The real-time tactical information captured by MX systems is used by military and government agencies for intelligence, surveillance, targeting and reconnaissance missions worldwide.

L-3 WESCAM is a world leader in the design and manufacture of stabilized, multi-spectral airborne imaging systems.
