Tekelec,

Morrisville, NC: Tekelec announced the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) has deployed several Tekelec EAGLE(R) 5 Signaling Applications System platforms to upgrade the United States Department of Defense (DoD) voice communications network.

DISA, a DoD combat support agency, provides seamless, secure and reliable communications networks, databases, applications and other capabilities for various government entities. The Tekelec EAGLE platforms will provide critical upgrades to the DISA signaling system 7 (SS7) network within the United States to enable communications with other global portions of the network. The addition of Tekelec's signaling platforms also will increase call control reliability and network security.

The Tekelec EAGLE 5 SAS platform is fully certified by the Joint Interoperability Test Center (JITC) for interoperability as well as for Information Assurance, in accordance with applicable DoD directives.

DISA also has deployed Tekelec's EAGLE 5 SAS platforms in the Asia-Pacific region.

“As a leader provider of signaling and switching solutions and high-value applications, we are committed to addressing the telecom requirements of government agencies as well as service providers around the globe,” said Fred Lax, Tekelec CEO. “As the network provider for the DoD, DISA requires highly reliable and secure solutions to support its mission-critical network. The decision to deploy our signaling platforms in the U.S. and overseas illustrates Tekelec's global reputation and expertise in meeting these stringent standards.”
