DCNS, European naval defence group DCNS is responding to the needs of established and potential customers in Asia by presenting its products and services at the international IMDEX ASIA 2007 show in Singapore from 15 to 18 May 2007. The event gives the group an excellent opportunity to showcase its unique experience in warship prime contracting and its contributions to major Asian naval defence programmes in partnership with client navies and local contractors.

The DCNS stand showcases the FREMM multimission frigate programme, a new-generation stealth ship and the Mistral family of force projection and command vessels (LHDs), currently the largest in the French fleet after the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier. DCNS is also displaying the Swordship concept ship, an audacious next-generation surface combatant.

The stand also features the Scorpene conventional propulsion submarine (SSK), as ordered by Chile, Malaysia and India, as well as the compact SMX 23 submarine design concept demonstrating DCNS’s commitment to innovative solutions to a range of challenges. DCNS offers client navies the Mesma AIP system to extend submarine submerged endurance and significantly improve operational performance.

Navies all over the world are showing increasing interest in UXVs, a generic term covering autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) and unmanned surface vehicles (USVs). In response to this interest, DCNS is actively developing the ASM-X family of tube-launched UUVs for submarines.

DCNS is also displaying the new-generation BlackShark heavyweight torpedo developed with Italian partner Wass. The BlackShark has been selected by a number of navies. This product is an excellent example of DCNS’s expertise in advanced system integration.

IMDEX ASIA 2007 also gives the group an opportunity to reaffirm how proud it is to be contributing to the Republic of Singapore Navy’s Formidable-class frigate programme. For DCNS, the Delta programme has included the construction of the first-of-class Formidable in France and the delivery of services enabling Singapore Technologies Marine (STM) to build the other five frigates in Singapore under a technology transfer programme.

Through agreements and partnerships with local contractors, DCNS offers a spectrum of services for integrated warships and fleets. The RSN has, for instance, purchased the Navéo collaborative portal to exchange through-life support data concerning its Formidable-class frigates with key programme contractors and suppliers.

The presence in Singapore of DCNS subsidiary DCN Services Far East Pte Ltd reflects the group’s commitment to faster response by setting up facilities close to key customers.

Later, DCN Services Far East will offer its services to the RSN for ships other than the Formidable class. The subsidiary is also set to become a hub for all DCNS business in the Singapore region and a key component of the group's response to business opportunities throughout south-east Asia.

The DCNS group is Europe’s leading player on the world market for naval defence systems. To meet customer demands for more comprehensive and integrated systems, expertise in naval architecture, systems engineering, ship assembly and integration and equipment design and production as well as through-life support. DCNS employs 13,300 people and generates annual revenues of around EUR3 billion.
