Aerospace & Defence Industries Association of Europe, BRUSSELS, Belgium: The AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe, ASD, welcomes the Bulgarian Defence Industry Association, BDIA as its new member.

BDIA, a non-profit legal entity, was formed in 2004 by twelve leading defence companies comprising in excess of 6.000 employees with the aim to stimulate, enhance and promote the Bulgarian Defence Sector. The Bulgarian Defence Industry has proved its ability to produce high efficient and reliable products, recognised in many countries all over the world.

BDIA is co-chaired by Stefan Vodenicharov, Petyo Milkov and Nikolay Ibushev.

With the enhanced European co-operation that Bulgaria is now enjoying as a New Member of the Union, joining ASD is an important step for BDIA. By becoming ASD members they can further serve their national industry to improve their integration in Europe and develop new cooperation in R & T programmes and business opportunities.

The membership became effective 1st July 2007 and makes BDIA both the youngest and the newest ASD member.

ASD is glad to welcome Bulgaria as our newest member. We hope to develop an active and intense co-operation with them as soon as possible.

ASD, AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe represents the aeronautics, space, and defence industries in Europe. ASD has 31 member associations in 20 European countries, and represents over 2,000 companies with a further 80 000 suppliers, many of which are SMEs.
