US Air Force,

SOUTHWEST ASIA: Coalition airpower integrated with coalition ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan during operations Nov. 13, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

In Afghanistan, Air Force F-15E Strike Eagles engaged enemy positions with a guided bomb unit-12, a GBU-31, GBU-38s, and cannon rounds in Deh Rawod. Enemy combatants were engaging coalition forces in the area. The on-scene joint terminal attack controller reported the mission as a success.

During the same mission, an F-15E performed a show of force to deter enemy activities against the coalition forces in the area. The mission was assessed as successful by the JTAC.

A Royal Air Force Harrier GR-7 conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity in Deh Rawod. The JTAC reported the show of force as a success.

A show of force was performed by F-15Es over an enemy position in Gereshk, where coalition forces were being engaged by enemy combatants. The F-15s engaged the enemy position with cannon fire. The JTAC reported that the desired result was achieved.

An Air Force B-1B Lancer released flares in a show of force to deter enemy activities in Gereshk. The mission was deemed as a success by the JTAC.

A B-1B conducted an air strike with a GBU-31 against an enemy position in Nagalam. The JTAC reported the strike as a success.

A Navy F/A-18 Hornet targeted a mortar position with cannon fire in Sangin. The JTAC reported that the target was hit successfully and the mission was a success.

An F/A-18 performed a show of force to deter enemy activities in Kabul. The mission was reported as a success.

In total, 44 close-air-support missions were flown in support of the ISAF and Afghan security forces, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Seven Air Force surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan. Additionally, two RAF aircraft performed tactical reconnaissance.

In Iraq, Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons engaged an enemy vehicle with GBU-38s in a compound in Balad. The vehicle was armed with an anti-aircraft gun and used by enemy combatants. The JTAC confirmed the target was destroyed and deemed the mission as a success.

In total, coalition aircraft flew 41 close-air-support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions supported coalition ground forces, protected key infrastructure, provided over watch for reconstruction activities and helped to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Twenty-six Air Force and Navy surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq.

Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intratheater heavy airlift support, helping to sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa.

Approximately 143 airlift sorties were flown; 543 tons of cargos were delivered, and 4,151 passengers were transported. This included approximately 29,200 pounds of troop re-supply air-dropped in Afghanistan.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia and Iraq flew in support of operations in Afghanistan or Iraq.

On Nov. 12, Air Force aerial refueling crews flew 42 sorties and off-loaded approximately 2.6 million pounds of fuel to 236 receiving aircraft.
