, CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa: The Republic of Singapore Air Force's (RSAF) C-130 fleet took an important step toward meeting evolving air traffic regulatory requirements recently by selecting Rockwell Collins to provide an integrated avionics communication/navigation/surveillance and air traffic (CNS/ATM) solution.

The program will provide the avionics solution for 10 Singapore C-130 aircraft. As the avionics provider for the Republic of Singapore Air Force C-130 Avionics upgrade program, Rockwell Collins provides technology that prepares aircraft for changing CNS/ATM requirements.

The upgrade program will feature Rockwell Collins Flight2 avionics, which augment and enhance aircraft operational capabilities by providing an open systems architecture that integrates flight operations with navigation and guidance functions and supports future growth requirements. This CNS/ATM upgrade offers any customer unrestricted access to civil airspace by providing required navigation performance compliance and will support growth to controller pilot data link communication (CPDLC).

“This award continues the momentum we've built through a series of successful aircraft platform CNS/ATM upgrade deliveries, including the GATM [Global Air Traffic Management]-equipped U.S. Air Force C/KC-135 aircraft fleet upgrade and several international C-130 programs,” said Greg Churchill, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Rockwell Collins Government Systems. “This award is an important milestone that continues to build on our tradition of delivering operational, CNS/ATM-capable military aircraft.”

The Rockwell Collins Flight2 open architecture ensures a seamless interface with multiple products, such as weather radar, guidance systems, and flight and situational awareness displays, including electronic engine instrument displays. Cockpit efficiency, safety and ease of use are improved, while the system provides a plug-and-play capability that allows for growth with evolving requirements. Flight2 avionics include an Ethernet-based integrated processing center (IPC) with flight management capabilities. ST Aerospace will install the avionics solution in Singapore.

ST Aerospace is the aerospace arm of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering). Operating a global MRO network with facilities in Asia Pacific, Europe and the US, it is the world's largest airframe MRO with a global customer base that includes many of the world's leading airlines, airfreight operators and military operators.

Rockwell Collins (NYSE: COL) is a pioneer in the development and deployment of innovative communication and aviation electronics solutions for both commercial and government applications. Our expertise in flight deck avionics, cabin electronics, mission communications, information management and simulation and training is strengthened by 18,000 employees, and a global service and support network that crosses 27 countries.
