EL SEGUNDO: Aura Systems, Inc. announced today that Naval Special Warfare has requested ownership of the SEALION II high performance technology craft powered by the 16,000 Watt AuraGen VIPER system, after successfully completing extended testing and evaluation by both Naval Sea System Command Warfare Center Carderock (“NSWC CCD”) and Naval Special Warfare Group Four (“NSWG4”). The transfer to operations took place 29 February 2008.

NSWC CCD underlying mission is focused on ship and ship hull systems, mechanical and electrical systems, propulsions, logistics, and in-service engineering in meeting the maritime force needs of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. NSWG4 is part of Naval Special Warfare Command providing effective maritime surface special operations capability in conjunction with national policy.

Mr. Richard Wilkie, the SEALION Electrical Engineer, from Special Projects, NSWC CCD stated in a message to Aura Systems, “We are pleased to announce that SEALION II was turned over to NSWG4 on February 29. The craft has been evaluated by both NSWC CCD and NSWG4 for the past year and has performed very well. A major part of that performance was due to the AuraGen system's reliable AC & DC power capabilities. As a result NSWG4 has requested that they take ownership of the craft for an undefined period of time. NSWC CCD wishes to thank … your company for your excellent service and we look forward to working with you in the future.”

Mel Gagerman, Aura’s CEO, said, “We are very pleased with the service that the AuraGen VIPER is able to provide the Navy as well as the excellent performance during lengthy ocean testing and evaluation. The Dual G8500XM VIPER on the SEALION II provides 16,000 Watts of continuous load following power with automatic load sharing between AC and DC power as needed. Recently the Naval Undersea Weapons Center (NUWC) ordered a Dual TANGEN G8500M VIPER All-AC System. The superior performance and reliability of the AuraGen in marine applications is now clearly established through the extensive successful USCG and USN Open Ocean testing. As reported last year, the Company is under contract to provide the initial set of the hundreds of AuraGen VIPER G8500XM systems for the USCG fleet production program of the Response Boat – Medium. We have received a great deal of interest from numerous commercial and leisure boat OEMs and users. The Company is in the process of obtaining special UL certification for commercial and leisure boating. Once we receive the certifications we will aggressively market to that sector.”
