In all seriousness you get good and bad on both sides, and those good and bad can and have made stupid or smart decisions depending on the politics of the day. Its not all black and white, quite simply it is a very bloody grey area.
It's estimated worth is now > $300 million, so it's probably the best investment of $1.3 million dollars the federal government ever made. Art market prices for 'classic' works is crazy.

I am not sure how far advanced the projects are, but since the DCSA notifications to Congress have been published, what generally happens next is that the pricing, terms, etc., will be negotiated by the US Army on behalf of the Commonwealth of Australia with the vendors. That takes time and once agreement is reached it moves thought various approval processes before the first aircraft are handed over.
Given my pessimism, I would think limited movement towards contract during the current Government.
