I actually went out and bought a 2nd copy of Full spectrum warrior last weekend cost me 10 bucks and I can play it on my Xbox360 or if I feel the need I can drag the old Xbox out LOL. I had a great time with this game and someone pinched it when I was living on base (BASTARDS!) so I got another one. Call of Duty 4 is great fun with some nice touches ie penetraion of walls etc. I also have Warhammer 40000 on PC its short but I enjoyed it.

To all COD4 fans: "Modern Warfare2 is coming out this holiday season (thanksgiving or christmas?)"
I hope it lives up to COD4s legacy.

You're kidding right? I've never heard of such things.

Anyway, if anyone's looking for a good military sim, I think ArmA, for now at least, pretty much nails it down. ArmA 2 and OFP 2 will definitely live beyond the standards.

Company of Heroes is a good WW2 shooter game. World in Conflict, well, it's okay in my opinion. There should be more Cold War Strategy games!! DoW 2 is a definite get, even if you don't believe in an Emperor who's brain-dead nearly 38 thousand years into the future.

I play a game called 'Hearts of Iron 2'. Has anyone played the game? When I play Great Britain, I pack up, in the beginning, all my provinces with static anti aircraft guns. Then, I develop the fighter, naval bomber, strategic bomber, and escort fighter. I make six squadrons of strategic bombers, and six squadrons of naval bombers, along with twelve squadrons of escort fighters. I construct some fighter squadrons, too. The idea is to lay waste at the beginning, of the factories of the enemy. All the six squadrons of strategic bombers, must bomb, say Stuttgart, or Cologne. We see the factories become much less in number. Britain is secure from air strikes, because of the great number of anti aircraft guns. I also pack in radars, along the coast, and the provinces bordering the coast.

The best aircraft military game is supposed to be 'IL Sturmovic-2: 1946', according to gamespot.com. I have requested to procure it from a reputed retailer in Bangalore. I am waiting for the title 'Naval Battles' to come out, published by battlefront.com. Ubisoft is bringing out a title on the Battle of Britain, wich I am sure, will be very good.

A friend recommended me "DCS Black Shark".
He said it was a very good Sim.
Does anyone have experience with this game?

EDIT: ArmA was/is one of the worst games ever made. But I heard only good about ArmA 2. But what I'm realy waiting for ist Operation Flashpoint 2

Black Shark is a great game, I love how realistic and in-depth that game is. My only gripe is that it doesn't have voip.

Arma 2 I'm willing to bet will be more realistic than of2.

The best war games IMO

Americas Army - made by the US Army. really realistic, requires you to sit a mock medical exam if you wish to play as a medic, or a sniper test if you wish to play as a sniper, you even have to go through basic training before being allowed to play online. Also a lot of fun, requires you to be patient instead of running in gun ho like other shooters. also it is FREE link here

Company of Heroes - greatest RTS ever. control squads of rifle men, snipers, tanks, halftracks etc. Call in supply drops, bombing runs. Call in artillery fire from off site or construct strategically placed howitzers on ridges. Units have the ability to think for themselves to a certain extent, such as taking cover behind walls or sandbags when under fire. The first mission has you running squads of men up the beach to the german defences EXACTLY like you saw in 'saving private ryan'. does requires a good computer to really appreciate the stunning graphics of this game.

Battlestations Pacific - similar to Battlefield, except it focuses on the control of vehicles such as battleships, carriers, landing vessels. Also planes such as bombers, fighters and scouts. Whatever units you have deployed you can instantly take control of it or let the computer AI take over while you micromanage the battle and give orders to your units from the map.

you seriously haven't play a decent military game until you've played one of those.

I play Halo 3 with some members from my airsoft team.
MLG (Major League Gaming) is very tactical and intense once you get in the higher ranks (40+)
At that level of gameplay you're going against professional teams.

Very good if you enjoy fast-paced tactical combat.
Good for training your communication and coordination, as well as critical thinking skills.

Gamertag is "AK SWIFT Leader."

I'm currently playing Empire: Total War, it's a strategy game and it's based on the militaries from the Ottoman Empire, British Empire, Maratha Confederacy, Austro-Hungary Empire, etc. between 1700's-1800's.

Other war games I played on PC is Combat Flight Simulator, F-22 Lightning 3 and Mig-29...something (I forgot it's name it was 2004 last time I played it). Most of my games are console or handheld based, other war game I had was MOH: Frontline for the PS2.

Thought I'd throw in my lot.

Flight Sims:
IL2
LOMAC
(F4 unfortunately crashes too much with win7x64 f)
(Really looking forward to Thunderworks)
Awaiting:
http://www.thunder-works.com/news.htm

FPS or Combat Sims:
Operation Flashpoint with TONS of Mods. (aa aiming was impossible, aa2 and ofp2 are way to hardware hungry)
Red Orchestra -multiplayer online with steam 10usd . Unbeleavable fun and taxing
Sorry but imo COD4, bf2 are just not realistic enough...

Naval:
Janes Fleet Comand with NWS mod.
Silent Hunter 3 - With Grey Wolves Expansion
Silent Hunter 4

Strategy:
Total War series - The best way to loose yourself
Supreme Ruler-Global Crisis - forget superpower2, compared to this it is simple...

Noteable mention:
SWAT4
Hearts of Iron

damn that's nice....this is the kinda game I always wanted.....all aspects of war in one game.
I've tried stupid StarCraft....and it sucks!

is it just for PC? or PS2 too?
are you delusional?
starcraft is the ultimate gaming experience!
it covers so many areas of warfare and the inevitable conclusion that smarter aliens (protoss) are going to battle us with lasers and war of the world like killing machines (colosuss), and insectoid like creatures (zerg) are going to overrun us with there vast evolution capabilities.
if you suck at the game keep practicing cause it gets way better!

I think Ghost Recon is one of the best games EVER! Just don't play it at 5' in the morning when you've been up for 19 hours!

IMO, the best military games I've played so far are Falcon 4 Allied Force, and Dangerous Waters by Sonalyst.

F4AF simulates the F-16 avionics brilliantly, almost forcing the player to incorporate realistic strategies or become fodder for the MiGs.

Dangerous waters features sonar operations realistically as well, also requiring the player to employ his sensors and weapons smartly.

I'm gonna pick up a copy of DCS blackshark. I heard its good and detailed as well.
