MicroBAT demonstration to Italian Military

ISRAEL: Bental Industries, Ltd., Israel’s defense industry leading motion and power systems supplier, posts another accomplishment for its venerable MicroBAT with OtoMelara’s successful multi platform MicroBAT demonstration to Italian senior MOD staff including Chief of Staff of Italy’s armed forces and its defense minister.

The demonstration took place earlier this year with OtoMelara featuring MicroBAT installed onboard its Ibis UAV platform as well as onboard a ground robot.

MicroBAT’s capabilities were clearly demonstrated to the Italian officials both in the air and on the ground as it consistently produced a clear and sharp picture utilizing its sophisticated stability system and its ability to control both zoom and focus. The demonstration included a comparison with a fixed non stabilized camera installed onboard a fixed wing plane. In this comparison, MicroBAT onboard the Ibis clearly demonstrated the advantages of its stabilized zoom system.

These advantages include MicroBAT’s placement position versatility. This lightweight and compact system is capable of a variety of installation positions onboard the UAV, which include a forward positioning in the UAV’s nose section, below it, and on the bottom of the UAV’s fuselage as well as on top.

Other aspects of this comprehensive demonstration showed the advantages of MicroBAT’s ability to zoom and focus, making this easily installed system simple to manage for operators on the ground. Additionally, ground operators benefit from the ability to operate the system as they would on larger air platforms, because of MicroBAT’s capabilities with a downward facing position onboard its intended micro and mini UAV platforms.

Bental Industries Ltd., a member of KMN Holdings, is a manufacturer of electrical motion systems which range from brushless motors and servo actuators via starter generators with permanent magnet technology and suitable controllers to stabilized gimbals with camera systems. Bental’s products find application in unmanned aerial vehicles, jet engines, optronics, antenna drives as well as turret and weapon positioning systems of armored fighting vehicles.
