US Department of Defense, Lockheed Martin, Maritime Systems & Sensors, Moorestown, N.J., is being awarded a $258,675,871 fixed-price incentive modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-01-C-5168) for three Navy fiscal year 2004 Aegis Weapons Systems (AWS) and one AWS for DDG 2318 Japanese Kongo class destroyer under the Foreign Military Sales Program.

AWS is the primary anti-air warfare defensive weapons system onboard the Ticonderoga class cruisers (CGs) and Arleigh Burke class destroyers (DDGs), the Spanish Frigate (F100 class), the Japanese Kongo class destroyer and now the Republic of Korea Navy KDX class destroyer.

The heart of the AWS is the AN/SPY-1 radar system, a 3-dimensional, air/surface search and tracking radar. This high-powered (4-megawatt) radar is able to perform search, track and missile guidance functions simultaneously with a capability of over 100 targets.

Work will be performed in Moorestown, N.J., and expected completion date is July 2008 for delivery of the U.S. Navy fiscal year 2004 AWS and May 2007 for delivery of the AWS for DDG 2318. Related logistics and production support services will continue until all work is complete. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.
