NEW YORK: Medis Technologies Ltd., creator of the world’s first consumer portable fuel cell, together with Vitrociset, a leading Italian defense company, announced today that the two companies have entered into an exclusive agreement for the development and adaptation of Medis’ fuel cell technology for battery use in tactical man pack radios, future soldier combat jackets and unmanned airborne vehicles (UAVs) for the Italian military market.

Medis will work closely with Vitrociset to develop the first of its kind military specific portable fuel cell powered solution.

“Medis Technologies continues to pursue global opportunities to integrate our advanced fuel cell technology into military applications. Joining Vitrociset to collaborate on an energy system for the Italian military is a privilege,” said Medis Technologies Chairman and CEO Jose Mejia. “Together, we will bring a customized power solution to soldiers, adapting our fuel cell technology to meet their equipment needs and overall weight limitations to optimize mission in field time and solider safety.”

Vitrociset Col. (r.) Emilio Biasin, Corporate Affairs, added, “Medis’ fuel cell technology has several core advantages over other players in the alternative energy market; it’s reliable, green, safe, and offers extended operating power, all vital in military applications. We’re pleased to collaborate with Medis to provide our soldiers with the best in power systems.”

Medis Technologies Ltd. headquartered in New York, is the first company in the world to design, develop and market a portable liquid fuel cell capable of providing electrical power to the mobile electronics marketplace. The Medis fuel cell features a patented, proprietary fuel formulation that utilizes borohydride to generate electricity upon activation; it is safe, clean, silent, non toxic, and recyclable. First generation products include the Medis 24-7 Power Pack; 24-7 Xtreme Portable Power Solution; and the Medis Fuel Cell Power Emergency Kit.

Medis’ indirect majority-owned subsidiary, Cell Kinetics Ltd., is engaged in the development and commercialization of the CKChip, a unique cell carrier platform intended for simultaneous fluoroscopic monitoring and analysis of thousands of individual living cells over time.

Vitrociset, standing for size and know-how, is one of the leading Italian groups which operate in advanced electronics, information technology, UAV’s and integrated logistics. An important national and European resource, Vitrociset designs, implements, integrates and manages electronic and IT systems in civil and military sectors for private businesses, public authorities, governmental agencies and international organizations. Vitrociset partners with the Italian Ministry of Defence for the supply of products and services specifically developed to cater to the peculiar technical, operational, logistics and administrative needs of all Armed Forces.
