Indra, the leading IT provider in Spain and one of the top IT providers in Europe, today announced the signing of an international agreement with Cisco, to collaborate in the research and development of new technologies and solutions for the security and defence industries

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Indra CEO Regino Moranchel and Chris Dedicoat, President of Cisco’s European Markets.

It will allow both companies to strengthen their positions in markets with high growth potential over the next few years and will initially focus on technology areas such as mobility, wireless networks, mobile data centres, Cisco TelePresence™ and IP video surveillance.

Under the terms of the MoU, Indra and Cisco may also in the future extend their collaboration into other public and private sector market segments, such as healthcare and intelligent urbanisation, where both companies already have extensive experience and a track record of innovation.

Indra CEO Regino Moranchel said: “In the current climate it is more imperative than ever for business and societies to use technology and innovation to take advantage of market transitions. At Indra we are convinced that today’s announcement is an important step forward in this respect.”

“Working with Indra is particularly timely given the growing trend towards cross-border collaboration in today’s defence and security bodies,” said Chris Dedicoat, president of Cisco’s European Markets. “These ’borderless’ organisations need robust network systems, with the intelligence to make them secure and allow them to support collaboration across functional, geographic and inter-organisational divides.”

Cisco is the worlwide leader in networking that transforms how people connect, communicate and collaborate.
