Bulgarian Ministry of Defence, Bulgaria and the USA reached a final agreement on defence cooperation, including the procedure and rules for joint usage of several military sites in Bulgaria.
At the press conference given by Bulgarian Ambassador to NATO Lyubomir Ivanov and US Ambassador John Beyrle, they said that under the document the two countries are allies; security and defence, combat against terrorism are the basis of the goals and principles of the UN and of the shared values.
If the agreement is signed at the end of April, during the visit of Ms Condoleeza Rice, the first US forces can come to Bulgaria in 2007 and 2008, said Ambassador Beyrle. The grounds in Novo Selo will be used for infantry training, Bezmer airfield
