US Air Force,

SOUTHWEST ASIA: Coalition airpower integrated with coalition ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan during operations Nov. 28, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

In Afghanistan, Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs targeted enemy combatants with cannon rounds and 500 pound bombs in Bari Kowt. In addition, shows of force were performed to deter enemy activities in the area. The on-scene joint terminal attack controller declared the missions as successful.

Enemy combatants were struck with a guided bomb unit-31 dropped by an Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle in Bari Kowt. The mission was confirmed as successful by the JTAC.

A show of force was performed by a Royal Air Force Harrier GR-9 to deter enemy activities near coalition forces in Kajaki Dam. The JTAC deemed the mission a success.

A GR-9 dropped enhanced Paveway II munitions during a strike against enemy combatants southeast of Tarin Kowt. The GR-9 also performed a show of force to support coalition troops who were engaging enemy combatants in the area. The missions were confirmed as a success by the JTAC.

An Air Force B1-B Lancer targeted enemy firing positions with a GBU-31 and GBU-38s in Garmsir. The strike supported coalition forces who were engaging enemy combatants in the area. The JTAC reported the strike a success.

An F-15E conducted a strike against enemy targets with a GBU 31 and GBU-38s in Kandahar. The mission was assessed as successful by the JTAC.

In total, 40 close-air-support missions were flown in support of the ISAF and Afghan security forces, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Eleven Air Force and RAF surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

In Iraq, an Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon performed a show of force to deter enemy actions against a coalition forces position in Salman Pak. The JTAC reported the mission as a success.

In total, Coalition aircraft flew 45 close-air-support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions supported coalition ground forces, protected key infrastructure, provided over watch for reconstruction activities and helped to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Thirty Air Force, Navy, and Royal Australian Air Force surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. Additionally, three Navy and RAF aircraft performed tactical reconnaissance.

Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster III's provided intratheater heavy airlift support, helping to sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa.

Approximately 133 airlift sorties were flown; 468 tons of cargos were delivered, and 2,653 passengers were transported. This included approximately 32,760 pounds of troop re-supply air-dropped in Afghanistan.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada, Iraq, Japan, and Republic of Korea flew in support of operations in Afghanistan or Iraq.

On Nov. 27, Air Force, French, and RAF aerial refueling crews flew 38 sorties and off-loaded approximately 2.4 million pounds of fuel to 216 receiving aircraft.
