US Air Force,

SOUTHWEST ASIA: Coalition airpower integrated with coalition ground forces in Iraq and International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan during operations June 16, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

In Afghanistan, Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs fired cannon rounds and dropped guided bomb unit-12s onto enemy combatants in Bagram. An on-scene joint terminal attack controller declared the mission a success.

An Air Force B-1B Lancer dropped a GBU-38 and GBU-31s onto enemy positions in the vicinity of Bari Kowt. The mission was reported as a success by a JTAC.

In the vicinity of Bari Kowt, A-10s fired cannon rounds and dropped general purpose 500-pound bombs onto an anti-Afghan forces mortar team. Furthermore, a B-1B dropped GBU-31s onto enemy fighting positions in the same area. A JTAC confirmed the missions as successful.

An Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle conducted a show of force in Tarin Kowt in order to deter activities by anti-Afghan forces in the area. The mission was declared successful by a JTAC.

In Orgun-E, A-10s and F-15Es performed shows of force in order to deter anti-Afghan forces' activities in the area. A JTAC reported the missions as successful.

An F-15E conducted a show of force in order to deter activities by anti-Afghan forces in the vicinity of Kandahar. The mission was confirmed as a success by a JTAC.

In total, 48 close-air-support missions were flown as part of the ISAF and Afghan security forces, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Eleven Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft flew missions as part of operations in Afghanistan. Additionally, two Royal Air Force aircraft performed tactical reconnaissance.

In Iraq, a Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet and Navy F/A-18C Hornets performed shows of force in order to deter enemy activities in the vicinity of Al Amarah. A JTAC declared the missions as successful.

In total, coalition aircraft flew 30 close-air-support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions integrated and synchronized with coalition ground forces, protected key infrastructure, provided overwatch for reconstruction activities and helped to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Twenty-seven Air Force and Navy ISR aircraft flew missions as part of operations in Iraq. Additionally, eight Air Force, Navy and RAF aircraft performed tactical reconnaissance.

Air Force C-130 Hercules aircraft and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intra-theater heavy airlift, helping to sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa.

Approximately 112 airlift sorties were flown, 326 tons of cargo delivered and 2,441 passengers were transported. This included approximately 28,800 pounds of troop re-supply air-dropped in Afghanistan.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada and Iraq flew as part of operations in Afghanistan or Iraq.

On June 15, Air Force and RAF tanker crews flew 59 sorties and off-loaded approximately 3.2 million pounds of fuel to 233 receiving aircraft.
