At sea with USS Mahan (DDG 72) Sep. 27, 2002 -- The guided missile destroyer steams behind the George Washington during a regularly scheduled deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The Washington is participating in exercise âMediterranean Sharkâ during a regularly scheduled deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The exercise is a bilateral training exercise conducted in Morocco by a U.S. Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), Special Operations Capable (SOC), to show the effectiveness of the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF).
