Naval news put article on SYNTACS MCM suit build by German Anschutz, for the two MCM for TNI-AL. So far rumours talk aside this two brand new MCM, Indonesian Navy seems going to upgrade the two Tripartite MCM from the 80's. Don't have information if the upgrade will be taken and how far it will be upgraded yet. This supposedly part of 40+ KRI that's going to be upgrade this term.

Adding the two brand new MCM from German and doing upgrade existing Dutch build MCM is actually quite economical move. Considering those two tripartite still in much better condition compare to ex East German Kondor class MCM.

Bakamla/Indonesian Coast Guard KN Pulau Nipah in Singapore IMDEX 2023. KN Pulau Nipah is one of three Bakamla's 80M OPV. This class it self is the second largest class of Bakamla's vessel, only smaller then 110M Tanjung Datu class.

According to Bakamla's FB page, Bakamla is the only Coast Guard present in IMDEX. Personally for me hope it is more sign from Indonesian government on further building Bakamla. Indonesia as I mention time to time need more robust CG as maritime constabulary. This leave TNI-AL on real military maritime presence.

This picture from Bakamla site shown 110m, 80m and 50m patrols boats of Bakamla side by side. This is actually already quite balance type of vessels for Coast Guard, they just need to be given more Investment for more hulls of those three types.

So the new "presidential corvette" KRI Bung Karno 369 is launched two weeks ago.
It will have a length of 73 meters, a width of 12 meters and it will be armed with two 20 mm guns and an Oto Melara 40 mm main gun.

The KRI Bung Karno 369 will replace the KRI Barakuda 633 as presidential ship.

The concept of ship building program that should be the question. Do the Navy want to fokus more on Corvette size above or still want to waste resources on smaller patrol boats. This is so far in my opinion is still not clear. Like many Indonesian bureaucracy planning, the shipbuilding concept seems so far follow more on budget availability opportunity.

Hensoldt seems is the vendor that going to put their system for Tripartite MCM upgrade. Batam base Noahtu shipyard going to do the upgrade work. Thus so far MCM force will be center around four vessels of Two brand new German MCM and Two upgrade Tripartite MCM. All East German Kondor MCM not going to be upgrade, and rumours saying that they will be in future being replaced by locally build MCM with Abeking-Rasmussen help.

Around 6 kg of drugs in confiscated together with Malaysian and Indonesian money. 6 kg is nog a huge amount, but still 6 kg less to poison the people.

Update about the FREMM-deal. But actually nothing changes.

And in the beginning of this video, we can see an interview of Abeking&Rasmussen, where they are telling that they expect to deliver the two new Pulau Fani class minehunters to TNI-AL in around two weeks.

MCMV-update: some new photos from inside and on top the new vessel.

Jane's claim they're been shown by Indonesian government source on MOF letter of agreement for MinDef to begin procurement process for Submarine. This for foreign credit line ceiling of USD 2.16 bio budget.

Indonesian MOF agreement for Foreign Credit line usually not means it is the overall budget, as the budget actually can be higher. As by policy any government foreign credit line has to accompany by IDR Financing portion. Usually the IDR financing portion amount in average 10% of total budget ceiling. Thus with USD 2.16 bio foreign credit line ceiling, total budget ceiling can be USD 2.4 bio with the rest come from government own IDR portion.

Thus if this also consistent with 4 SSK being rumours before, then it is looking for SSK with budget around USD 600 mio each. Talk about SSK with AIP, Naval Group being rumours to offer Lithium Battery SSK rather AIP ones. Seems NG are now try to lobby for Lithium as better tech then AIP for future needs.

This presentation being taken from Kris FB, which they also got from NG and PAL presentation.

FB_IMG_1683721751378.jpgFB_IMG_1683721768934.jpg

This presentation reiterates previous presentation by NG and PAL on two of Scorpene building in PAL facility in Surabaya. Unlike previous program with DSME, NG guarantee that all will get the whole building process in Surabaya for the length of project of 8 years.

There's conflicting rumours on the overall budget of the program:

1. USD 2 bio + for production of 2 Scorpene in Surabaya plus additional logistics building capabilities at PAL submarine facility.
2. USD 2 bio + for production of 4 Scorpene of 2 in Surabaya and 2 in NG facility in France.

I don't know for sure, but the slides talk of 2 Submarine. Question is this 2 for whole project or 2 for Submarine that being build in Surabaya. The design of the project co-op being told similar with NG co-op in Brazil.

#2 rumours come out as talks before that within this 8 years period, NG will provide 4 Submarine. Not in line with the slides of only 2. So seems more clarification will come out latter on.

Are they (NG) still pushing for non AIP sub? At this point, why not just give minDef what they're looking and offer them Scorpene with AIP?

NG seems keen to show that Lithium Ion battery is more dependable in future then AIP. This is seems also NG card by offering Lithium Ion battery technology co-op with Indonesian SOE as part of supply chain package. They also know Indonesia government is put emphasis on lithium ion battery technology manufacturing as part of overall EV drive.

Thus at this point around we as public don't know whether Lithium Ion or AIP is going to be value more by Indonesian administration. However I do see NG prepare to offer both option, although they do seems shown Lithium Ion is better option. After all this is what they sell to Brazilian, and seems this similar package that they want to sell to Indonesian.

DCNS claims that their Air-independent propulsion (AIP) system gives 18 days of autonomy at sea, but we don't have the information/data to compare the cost and performance of AIP and Lithium Battery Packs.

So yes, like Ananda says, we just have to wait what the Indonesian government will choose between these two options.

Bonus....... our friend the Oracle on Twitter just placed an article about the possible acquisition of the F-16 and the FREMM-saga.

"As of March 2023, Indonesia hasn't fully paid the license to Babcock."
@Sandhi Yudha ..come on, its the Twitter Guy, Euro Salesman, or what you call Twitter oracle..or Rumours spreaders. He's using or perhaps baiting PAL response, as so far PAL keep silence on the Arrowhead 140 construction progress.

He's afterall keep continue calling DSME 1400 as failing submarine in his tweet, or media article (mostly in CNBC Indonesia) and his associate youtube channel. However not providing any substantial effidence on that matters.

Officially TNI-AL still saying in Media that they will get PAL Arrowhead 140 as schedule. It could be Babcock will provide the blue prints based on each modules progress. Not something that unheard off from license holder when conducting under licensing project.

The momentum for NG to get contract for Scorpene deal seems getting more traction. Asside from PAL as local partner, now they also got support from KKIP, which basically Agency that coordinate Indonesian Defense Industry projects. At this point around, it will be quite "surprise" if DSME or TKMS can snatch this 2nd batch submarine projects.

These three patrolboats will be send to LIMA 2023.
KRI Kerambit 627
KRI Halasan 630
KRI Golok 688
This is the first time that the KRI Golok is sent abroad.

And here we can see the return of all the military vehicles from Labuan Bajo back to their bases, boarding the KRI Banjarmasin 592.

KRI Kapak 625 and KRI Panah 626, the 5th and 6th vessels of the KCR-60 Sampari Class patrolboats, have officially joined Fleet III from TNI-AL.

do i see " CSSC" (China State Shipbuilding Corporation) on that model?

Hopefully it will stay with only this model
I repply in this thread.

Anything possible @Sandhi Yudha especially this election year. We know mother bull (Mak Banteng) party is full of those who like Non West originate Defense Assets.

There's 'whisper' in some corner of 'finance guys' places (Taman Suropati and Lapangan Banteng) on the complaint of certain political factions that current MinDef Procurement is too Western, and they should be more balance.

Thus asside budget line, there seems some lobby from that political corner to keep some portion of Procurement toward Chinese or even Russian originate assets.

Will see how this bargain goes, but some talks on dropping FREMM and use the budget for more Arrowhead 140 and Chinese Vessels is seems there. We also potentially see budget for FREMM will be sideline for Japanese Frigates projects with PAL.

Politics compromise matter more in Indonesian Procurement procesd especially after Soeharto era.

Yes everything can happen with people like the Minister of Everything and PDI-P's Chairwoman in charge of this country.

But i don't recognize the fregat model, it's not a Type 054(A), it looks more like one of those obsolete Type 053 variants.
