Hi. from an oldie.

Hello everyone! i'm just ordinary civilian but really interested in military discussion. i hope this forum will be another source for me to keep updated with military issues while i concentrate in transportation engineering.
Hi.
Born in 1930, not quite feeling old yet! Got through the war safely. Didn't like the doodle bugs and the butterfly bombs. Called up for NS in 1949 ended up in the Royal Artillery on ack ack. Did two live practice camps and 6 weeks on the Bristol Docks during the big strike in 1949. Three months after demob, I signed on in the Royal Air Force and never looked back, joined 617 Squadron and worked on Avro Lincoln's and Canberra's as electrical fitter. Then worked in the food industry. Did a period with the Grimsby Special Constabulary and 27 years with air cadets as warrant officer. Now well retired and help my wife miniature poodles.

Hello everyone. :)

Just found this forum while browsing for military technology related information. I am just an enthusiast and I don't work for the military industry but I find it very interesting since I like military simulations and simulators ( air, ground and sea) as a hobby.

I hope to learn a lot from the interesting discussions and posts I have already read, and to contribute with the small knowledge I have.

Thanks.

I salute you.

G’day All,

I only recently found this forum after reacquainting myself with a favourite war game (Harpoon) and that in turn reignited the immense interest that I once had for military history, strategy, philosophy and hardware. An interest that in the last decade and a half has gathered a lot of cobwebs as life just got in the way.

Of particular interest many years gone, was anything to do with Guerrilla warfare and Counter-Insurgency. But I am also fascinated by conventional theatres of war and like many here, I assume, enjoy “What ifs”.

Just briefly scanning many of the topics and discussions in the forums has me really excited to get involved and I have a lot of catching up to do.

Regards
Loc

Howdy all, I'm a long-time lurker who finally bit the bullet and got an account for DT. I'm a currently serving officer in the US Navy with experience on two ARLEIGH BURKE-class destroyers (with a deployment to Western Africa/the Mediterranean, and time spent as part of the Forward Deployed Naval Forces stationed in Japan). My primary interests in this forum are in the Naval and Maritime and Air Force and Aviation areas, and I look forward to hopefully being able to provide occasional meaningful contributions and frequently to learn more about developments around the world.
Welcome to DT and we look forward to seeing you around.

I've read the rules and won't be asking why don't we put f-35's on our new 'aircraft carriers' which seems to be the second post a lot of newbies make.
Thanks for looking after the sanity of the Mod Team and welcome to the forum, we hope to hear more from you.

I'm a newb on this forum also and this is my first post; it is great to catch up with Steve from the A4G days at VC-724 (my time on/off with VF-805 in 1971-2) in VC-724 from 1969 to 1974 then a year in Sydney at RANTAU and then out of RAN and the FAA in 1975.
Welcome and we hope to see you around more often too...

(d) when posting facts to support your comment/opinion, cite your source(s) (by typing the article title, publication, author and page number), if you want to avoid a source challenge; and

Good Afternoon!

Hi Everyone!

I'm new to this forum and I wanted to introduce myself to everyone as per the forums request for new users! I'm from California and I've always had an enthusiastic interest for all things military and firearms related! I worked in the airsoft industry just so that I had an excuse to go out and buy myself all the cool gear that I've seen the real operators out there use. I'm glad I came across this site, it seems to have a lot of neat little articles and threads on some cool topics that I havent seen yet!

Hi guys,

Just figured I should give a little bit more info. I'm a science teacher who studied remote sensing and environmental science at uni. I've got a general interest in things military, but particularly ISR capabilities.

I've also just received my RAAF service rejection letter. I was given a positive recommendation for boards, but the medicos rejected me based on my uncorrected vision (non-aircrew role). Bit dissappointed, but arguing with the bureaucracy doesn't seem to be particularly effective....

Hello everyone
My name is Cesar Gonzalez, I'm from Spain and I'm a former airman, a technician in several groups, planes maintenance, electronic warfare, ground equipment and some more. Thanks for the add to this community. I'm retired due to health problems and now I'm collaborating with a new born magazine called "Abrams Squad", about modelling modern military vehicles as adviser. I want to share this with you and request your help if I need it.

Great forum, great people.

Hello all,

I stumbled upon this forum in a google search and decided to register. I've spent some time in a couple of line units and worked as a trainer for some years. Nothing too fancy. I'm looking forward to participating in the discussion.
