The cannon for the first Gorshkov has just arrived, so we may see this long term project finally reach a serial production status. There is the engine question though, since Zarya has suspended deliveries on Russian MoD contracts and Saturn is years away from producing something comparable.
Thank you for the information, i heard there were some problems with the production of the A-192 guns, maybe they could use the AK-130 in new turrets for the first vessels if the production of the A-192 still was problematic.

Well they seem hellbent on using the A-192, and now they have the first serial cannon.

Isnt Zarya in Mariupol?... They may still get those engines depending on the settlment conditions with DPR.

Can't the russians offer citizinship and higher pay for ukrainian experts in the defense industry? Many are already in russian speaking areas.
It's located in Nikolaev. Nowhere near the rebel regions.

The Gorshkov frigate seems to have some sort of 360 degree array, the Poliment I think? Is it similar to the AEGIS arrays or some other design?

Well the 11356 Frigates will be completed with different engines. The last three ships have been given two options. Either use of the same engines as Gorshkov frigates, which would requite a redesign of the engine compartment, or use of 4 smaller engines.

Apparently the Swedes are looking for a possible Russian mini sub in Stockholm.

Sweden’s military has spent three days scouring the waters off Stockholm for what has so far been officially described only as “foreign underwater activity”. However, intelligence briefings to local newspapers suggest a Russian submarine might have had mechanical problems while on a secret mission in the region.

In scenes reminiscent of the 1970s and 80s – when neutral Sweden regularly hunted for Soviet spy submarines in the Baltic Sea around the capital – 200 service personnel were mobilised along with helicopters, minesweepers and an anti-submarine corvette fitted with stealth-type anti-radar masking.

The operation began late on Friday following what Sweden’s armed forces said was a reliable tipoff about something in the Stockholm archipelago, which has 30,000 islands and rocky outcrops around which a submarine could lurk. The officer leading the operation declined to give more details, saying only that there had been no armed contact.

Sweden has deployed large portion of it navy to try and find this submarine. Accouring to sources from the Swedish defence atleast three sightings from the public has been reported during the weekend.
The submarine is suspected to be a russian mini sub with infiltration troops onboard.

Leaks from the defence reports that incryped radio signals has been traced from the Swedish Waters outside Stockholm to Russias Kaliningrad.

Meanwhile, the 636 sub Novorossiysk is ready for deepwater trials with the North Fleet, after which it will head to the Black Sea. And a new fleet tug, the first of it's class, it's ready. It will join the Baltic Fleet. Given the regular use of fleet tugs, to accompany VMF taskforces on any long voyages, the acquisition of these humble vessels is actually quite important.

Thank you for the links.
Do all navies have such fleet tugs?
Or are they specifically a Russian navy requirement?
Thanks

A quick google search says that all navies have tugs of various size. What's special is that the VMF is in such bad shape (all the larger ships are very old) that they have to accompany them in almost all long-range voyages.

Meanwhile the second serial (3rd overall) Il-38N has been upgraded.

Most navies do have ocean going tugs (the USN has 4 for example) but only the Russians seem to deploy ocean going tugs whenever they deploy ships further than a couple miles from home port. This has been SOP going back to at least 2000. I'm not sure if that was SOP before then.

The Black Sea Fleet BPK "KERCH" (KARA/Project 1134B-class, and last of the class in service) caught fire a couple days ago.

Hasn't popped up in English yet, but apparently, she might be scrapped due to the fire damage.

I'd heard that she would be written off. NWS
She was supposed to be scrapped, but then the decision was reversed after it became clear that the Moskva would be going in for an overhaul and modernization. It was planned to be the flagship for the Black Sea Fleet while the Moskva was gone, even though many commentators noted that she'd essentially be a training vessel.

Meanwhile in news, the second 11356 was launched.

And more patrol ships for the FSB Border Guards.
