^ Joint Indo-Nepalese Mountaineering Expedition scaled Saser Kangri-1 Peak in Karakoram ranges. Saser Kangri-1, at 25170 ft, is the highest summit of the Saser Massif in Eastern Karakoram, deep in the Nubra Valley of Ladakh. It is considered one of the most technically difficult and formidable peaks in the world.

Although it was climbed from the east by an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) team in 1973; the Western Ridge route thwarted many attempts by legendary mountaineers before it was climbed by a joint Indo-British Army team in 1987. Several attempts were made since then to repeat the feat but none succeeded.
