At sea aboard USS Stethem (DDG 63) Oct. 16, 2002 -- A U.S. Navy âTomahawkâ cruise missile launches from the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyerâs vertical launch system at the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) western test range complex. This test is part of the Tactical Tomahawk Weapons Control System (TTWCS) technical evaluation process. TTWCS is the next generation cruise missile weapons control system scheduled for introduction to the fleet in 2004. âTomahawkâ missiles are deployed throughout the worldâs oceans on Aegis-class cruisers, guided missile destroyers, and Seawolf and Los Angeles class submarines.
