KRI Brawijaya firing one round from its 76mm Sovraponte CIWS, when entering Surabaya naval base. This is timing to coincide with TNI-AL 80th birthday. In fact all the journey from La Spezia to Surabaya scheddules being timed so the Frigate can make the enterance to Surabaya NB at the Navy 80th birthday.

TNI-AL just confirming to media that the crew for second PPA KRI Siliwangi will begin to be send to La Spezia next month until November. With 3 months minimum training there it is predicted the Ship will begin journey to Surabaya at early next year. It is also confirm that both PPA will be put at 2nd Fleet in Surabaya NB.

Other information also talk that Fincantieri will continue provide onboard support for at least a year after delivery. This means personal from Fincantieri and Italian Navy will still be on board periodically during next year to complete training.

Just realized that PPA is indeed a big boat .....

Here's hoping that the Aster 30 got fitted soon.

Does that means, TNI-AL PPA and FMP will be the most advanced, technologically superior surface vessels with enhanced armaments in Southeast Asia?

Except Singapore, most other ASEAN Navy relies on Corvette and Light Frigate. Asside PPA and FMP, all other Indonesia Navy surface combatants are also Corvette and Light Frigate, thus not much different then some of ASEAN Navy.

Singapore already playing on different league for sometime, especially after Asian Financial crisis in late 90's. Formidable class Frigate already in NATO standard since it's conception early this century. Indonesia with PPA only in paper begin to catch up (in paper as the upgrade is not finish yet). FMP will use mostly Turkiye Roketsan missiles, so not really proven yet it is in same class as MBDA Aster family. Yes Roketsan claim they have similar capabilities with MBDA and Raytheon products, but again they are still untested new comers.

So in short on paper FMP and PPA has edge compare to others in ASEAN except Singapore Formidable Frigates and their upcoming MRCV. However everything not just being compare toward on paper capabilities. War already shown other factors can determine more than just on paper specs.

From Keris FB that got this FMP photos from someone that taking it across PAL facility on a ship. It is claim taking at today 12th September.

It is already more shown typical Type 31/Iver superstructure. However it is not going to reach PAL CEO target on launching at October. More likely at December as previously targeted.

From another angle:

This shown FMP already moved to edge of the graving dock. This is the largest graving dock in PAL that has 300m length. Usually if a ship in assembly already move to the edge, means they are preparing assembly on second hull.

What's not clear is whether the second hull going to be 2nd FMP or Philippines LPD. I suspect if they're preparing second hull assembly, it will be for Philippines LPD.

The assembly of the FMP has always been at that location. You can't exactly move it while it is still being assembled. There is a good chance that she will be structually complete in October so they do a launch ceremony in the dry dock, but only float out in December.

This FMP#1 yes from begining already assembled on front part of the dock. However the position now closer to edge/dock water gate. Perhaps it is part of progressing assembly, however I just sense they move the hull bit closer to Dock Water Gate/Barrier already.

As when the ship ready structually to be launch, base only from external view, I still sense it won't be ready before December.

Thanks for that Google Earth photo. Then it is perspective angle that before make's it bit farther toward Water Gate/Barrier. It is also clear now the second hull being prepare on that Dock is Philipine LPD. Thus why PAL CEO still try to fload FMP by next month, to give more room for Pinoy LPD.

Compare to MRCV progress. It is debatable whether FMP can be flooded out from the dock by next month.

Agree. I don't think it is possible the FMP can flood out next month. Here is another view. My guess is the remainding modules for the FMP are the yellow box.

Yes seems the FMP modules are behind the hull. The latest photo shown most of superstructure module already assembled. I suspect then they can use the space behind FMP to begin assembly Pinoy LPD. When they assembled PKR SIGMA Light Frigate, they also assembly Pinoy first LPD behind it.

The dock has space for two hulls assembly, but can not be done on simultaneous pace. Wondering though if FMP already out, will the LPD being moved forward (after the hull fully assembled) to give space for another hull behind.

TNI-AL plan to reorganise the structure to focus deployment on each 5 big islands. This they plan to enlarge the fleet from 3 to 5. Each Fleet Will have their own sea lift command, marines division, hydrographic unit, and naval air wing.

At this moment 1st fleet HQ is in Tanjung Pinang NB at Riau Islands and this make the fleet covering Riau Islands and Sumatra. 2nd fleet HQ is in Surabaya NB at Java. While 3rd fleet HQ in Sorong NB at Papua. Thus left Kalimantan (Borneo) and Sulawesi (Celebes) that're not having their own fleet HQ yet. With the plan to focus on each fleet for each 5 main Islands, that'll those two islands that're going to receive 4th and 5th fleet.

Until some years ago, we had two fleets: Komando Armada Barat and Komando Armada Timur. Changing this into three fleets (around 2018, wasn't it?) is understandable, looking to the size of Indonesia, but it costs a lot of money and time.

But changing it again now, is it really effective? TNI-AL's fleet and manpower doesn't suddenly grow with 66,7%. The only thing what happen now is reorganizations, building new headquarters, create new units with each of them new commanders, design new patches and other costly things...
