My dream is to be in the air force and help design planes. However, the more I read the more it suggests that the Air Force doesnt have doesnt design their own planes. Bassicly I want to be an aeronautical engineer for the air force. Is their such a thing? Thanks.

If you are talking about the USAF, then the manufacturers are the ones that handle most of the design work for aircraft, based off parameters the air force or other service provides. I would expect there are some USAF aerospace engineers who are involved in test and evaluation of aircraft, and/or investigations if/when failures in military aircraft occur. However if you are sent on being involved in designing aircraft then you would really need to work for an aerospace company and not one of the services.
