On the occasion of Vietnam’s 80th National Day, the nation’s top weapons manufacturer introduced a newly developed self-propelled artillery platform equipped with an armored cabin.

That looks like quite a short barrel. I wonder why they've not gone for something with longer range.
I wonder what the cannon is. Vietnam has shown off multiple SP artillery systems before that consisted of an old gun stuck on a new chassis. I suspect, despite the modern-looking armored chassis, that this is more of the same.

EDIT: Another look at the video and the armoring on the truck cabin looks kind of like some of the up-armor kits Russia has been using on their Kamaz trucks in Ukraine. While I doubt it's an export, maybe there's some involvement in the development or sale of tech?

EDIT2: It's a D-20, also known as the 2S3 in self-propelled format. According to this the truck armor is original, which might be true, I don't know.

D-20? That's older than I am! Well, maybe it's cheap, & I expect Vietnam has a lot of D-20s.
Vietnam has weapon systems in service older then my parents, so this isn't that surprising. D-20s are a decent older howitzer. They've been around for ages, they're pretty sturdy, and there's a plethora of ammo for them. They're not a modern weapon system by any reasonable standard, but that's obviously not what Vietnam is going for with these conversions. The intent appears to be to get the most out of their older kit.

I think you're right about getting the most out of old kit. I see that they've also done M-46 SP conversions. More of the same, I presume.

We mounted outdated howitzers onto trucks to improve mobility and reduce the number of personnel required for operation. The reality of the war in Ukraine has shown that even obsolete artillery with limited range can still inflict damage on the enemy when guided by drones. The cabin of the Kamaz truck assembled in Vietnam is armored and equipped with a remotely controlled 12.7mm weapon system, which enhances the survival chances of the operating crew.

The M-46/Type 59-1 will be mounted on 8x8 trucks but will only be deployed to coastal defense artillery units
