UAE Fighter requirement

India had to shell out quite a lot of money on the IAF's Mirage 2000's to 2005 Standards. Many people felt the upgrade costs were higher than the cost of buying new fighters. The word ridiculous was heard thrown around a lot even then.
Sounds typical French defence industry. When Pakistan tried to purchase Mirage2000-5 from France the word "ridiculous" was common in many quarters once the contours of the deal were revealed. It collapsed.

The Switzerland not selecting the Rafael or the Typhoon and instead choosing the Gripen is one more notch on the list of woes for Rafael's international sales efforts. If India & UAE also end up not selecting it then it would certainly not have much hopes of success.
