When the Juan Carlos I joins the Spanish fleet, it won't be long before the media releases a photo or video of a F-100 frigate escorting her. It will be one fine photograph.... I suspect many will use this photo as a computer desktop picture... :D
it is paradoxical that the same image is repeated in our antipodes. :smokingc:

I past the video of the second sea trials, in november 2009:

[nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwc5ch1AWeo"]YouTube- LHD JUAN CARLOS I segundas pruebas de mar[/nomedia]

Like in the middle of the video there is a perspective with ship rotating, quite nice.

I have to say that in febrery they had a problem in one of the main engines, and ordered another unit or part, and in march they had it, and they wanted to finish engines trials by april, and give the ship as soon as possible (may-june) to the armada. There was/is another issue with the fore little pod, the one used for rotating the ship, i read it was vibration or noise problems...

Enjoy.

That would be the 3rd ship on the RAN wishlist they wanted ?
Its a CGI of a JCI/Canberra modified to act as a dedicated carrier as a replacement for Principe De Astute for the spanish navy.

RAN never wanted a third Canberra class to act as a carrier. They are not designed to be carriers, they are designed to be command ships and amphibious ships.

Sorry to sound sarcastic, but my comment was sarcastic, look it up

I'm assuming you are talking about the article that was in the SMH or Australian ages ago. Seen it, read it, not so sure you were being sarcastic.

And as for our spanish friends comment about three, he was referring to the Hobart class.

C'mon Stevo, it was a tounge in cheek comment on the pic, I know it was CGI, and I know about the articles in 2008, hence the tounge in cheek comment. Must admit though the pic does look really good

I have looking the video in youtube, and i see the ship bouncing like in high sea state, using the tanks with water, i think it will be great ship for launching jets of helos. It has a great speed filling or emptying with water the side tanks, for finding a balance and compensate the direction of the waves in the sea.

Juan Carlos sea trials

Have been in contact with a guy from Ferol and he has said the Juan Carlos has just commenced sea trials 3, he intends to make more videos in the coming days. I will post the link when he advises me. He will also make a video on the progress of the Australian LHD1 (Nuship Canberra) so I will also post this link when available. Not sure if this one has been posted before, but some good graphics none the less
