    Re: Aircraft Prices.

well maybe Tomcat was more expensive than F-16s cuz Tomcat has not been mass produced as much as F-16s..... so mass production of F-16s brings the unit price down majorly.................. and there cud be more reasons too ofcourse! by the way... how much as a Mirage 2000-5 for?

    Re: Aircraft Prices.

I've seen that list on one of the fighter forums and it was challenged by a few people.

I'm not so sure that it's data is really that empirical, as there are some in there that are clearly "disconnected" from real prices.

I'll see if I can fund the forum and give some clearer examples of what is wrong.

I do remember someone challenging the Frogfoot and Warthog values.

    Re: Aircraft Prices.

They might seem 'odd' because prices are for the year they were manufactured.

It is clearly stated on the site

The aircraft prices are given for the year indicated. These are market prices, not production costs. To estimate an aircraft's price for the current year use about 4% annual inflation rate for the U.S. dollar

    Re: Aircraft Prices.

I did pick up the year differences, I do recall seeing challenges to the price variations on the Gripen, Mirage family, Mig 29's, SU-27's, Bugs and Vipers

I'm still trying to find the forum that was complaining about it - as some of the people are procurement officers so know their stuff.
