K9 is one of the most prolific and modern SPH in the world. It’s basically the NATO standard at this point having trounced European and American options in multiple competitions with armies who demanded a very high standard. Farther developed A1 soon A2 are even harder to beat.
Particularly the latter which has a full automatic loader system enabling rapid deployment engagement and departure, a major advantage in the drone and counter battery era. This system would have a very high hurdle to climb to meet K9.
North Korea according to the report claims that the North Korean system has a range of greater than 60km. That is possible but with two caveats. First Rocket assisted shells need only apply. Second at that range, it’s going to need either a fixed unhardened target or the assist of an ISR asset. Preferably with course correction capabilities in the shell.
I just see now that the smiley icon i typed after "licence production of K9" isn't visible.

With other words, North-Korea (of course) don't build their SPHs under licence.

My apologies for the misunderstanding.

Put it in here as no clear user this will be. Previously I thought it can be Indonesia, as currently Indonesia is the only users for Kaplan 105mm MT and APC derivatives. Both version so far that being included on PINDAD production portfolio. Unless it is in their Portfolio, then highly unlikely Indonesian Army will take interest on this version.

Thus Kaplan base with 120mm, seems bit perplexing for me on whose market it will target for. Turkiye them selves already committed for MBT Atlay, and I don't see market for MT (Med Tank) in Euro land that always MBT minded.

So It seems this Tank going to have build long term path to attract potential market interest.

Just another commercial offering looking for a buyer. The same HIFACT II turret was also offered on the Otokar Tulpar chasis previously, and there is the evergreen CV90 with 120mm.

The only thing common is no interest in EUR.
